The Garage Sale Economy

The U.S. has lost it's AAA credit rating, and has been downgraded by S&P. Our economy continues to take a hit, in both the public and private sector. Stocks continue to roller coaster out of control.

More and more families are using garage sales to buy and sale items at a reduced rate.
In 2007 Bruce Littlefield wrote "Garage Sale America", stating that the shadow garage sale economy at $3 Billion!
He has forecast that 2011 will be the biggest year ever for garage sales!

I see tons of garage sales, yard sales, flea markets, etc., on many of the social networking sites.

Staying safe when selling with mobile apps!

Just a few tips I recommend to all users! Safety first…always!

1. Protect your privacy. Don't give out personal information such as your full name, social security number, address, employer name, birthday, etc. 
2. Never give out your telephone number. Use your cell phone number or a pre-paid cell phone, so your address can never be traced.
3. Meet in a public place. If you are meeting somebody to sell or buy goods, always meet in a safe, public environment during daylight hours.
4. Bring a friend. When meeting a poster in person, always bring a buddy or tell somebody where you are going.
5. Trust your instinct. If something seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Stay away from dealing with out of state or international buyers. 
6. Beware of scammers. Again trust your instinct. If something seems to good to be true, it probably is! Don't respond to suspicious queries, or provide personal information. 
7. Create a separate email address specifically for online transactions. 
8. Never let anybody into your home. Have the items being sold in the driveway, or in an open garage.
